How to Style your Huipil!

Who doesn’t like to talk about fashion? But not any type of fashion, today is exclusively all about our beautiful statement pieces in The Huipil CollectionTraditionally, huipiles are loose-fitting tunics with a hole in the head, that are joined at the sides. They are the most used garment in indigenous communities across Mexico and Central America and are used for various occasions, from casual wear to the most celebratory. The ones found in this guide are made by the talented hands of the gorgeous state of Oaxaca, but there are many other across Latin America regions.

One of our favorite feature about huipiles is that they’re extremely versatile pieces and can be worn as a casual, fashion, statement, or formal fit. Today, we would like to share some examples on how to style your Huipil using some of your own personal pieces you might have at home. Most importantly, remember that the secret of great style is to feel good in what you wear!

We start off with our Jalapa Huipil Blouse in the black and white embroidery color. These blouses are loose and very fresh making them perfect for the warmer summer days. Not only are they comfortable but also simple to style! For the black and white blouse we paired it with some denim jeans and a nice pair of wedge sandals, super comfortable and casual for a day out. We love to have a pop of color so we added our Hand Embroidered Calavera Tote Bag that comes in handy. It is very roomy and can hold a lot of things. That’s a plus!

To switch it up a little bit, we changed our fit to a more formal look and why not add your favorite pair of heels?! Using the same blouse, we paired it with some white pants and nude color heels. To conclude our outfit we added our signature Taxco hat in the black and gold dove style. ¡Hermoso!

Everybody loves a good summer dress and the Trenzado Huipil Dress is the perfect one. With so many ways to style this dress there's no going wrong! Whether you’re planning a simple lunch date or night out with some friends this will have heads turning.

For a more casual outfit we styled it with a pair of sandals, a brown belt, and our Calavera Mercado Bag. If you had to go somewhere more formal you can easily switch it up with a pair of heels and the purse of your liking. Super easy!

There’s so many ways of styling your Huipil even by adding your personal touch. How would you style yours? We would love to hear about it!
