Colectivo Penep Kasint
TEXTILE TRADITIONS PASSED DOWN THROUGH MOTHERS, GRANDMOTHERS AND GREAT-GRANDMOTHERS

Colectivo Penep Kasint, is a collective from the misty mountains of the Sierra Mixe rooted in memory, resilience, and vision. Based in Santa María Tlahuitoltepec, Oaxaca, this artisanal force brings together generations of Mixe knowledge with a forward-thinking spirit—where ancestral weaving techniques meet contemporary silhouettes.
The collective honors the sacred rhythm of the telar de cintura (backstrap loom), hand embroidery, and time-intensive textile traditions passed down through mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers. Each thread carries story, identity, and belonging. Each motif speaks the language of the land—of mountains, wind, ceremony, and celebration.
This collective stands as a testament to what happens when community becomes creation. When collaboration becomes resistance. When ancestral knowledge is not only remembered—but worn with pride.
