Tabasco, with origins of the Olmecs, carries its influences through use of natural materials to create baskets, wicker furniture, palm hats, and pottery. A place who makes elaborate pinatas, the famous carved jicaras, beautiful dry gourds with nature related designs, are a genuine representation of Mexican craftsmanship. With other indigenous influences such as Mexicas, Nahuas, Maya, Huichol, Tabasco continues practices of painted Joloches, Huichol yarn paintings, wood work, and delicate linen textiles created with a backstrap loom with cotton threads. Blending fresh, durable artisanal details with the rich heritage of Tabasco.
